JAPANESE CONCEPTS FOR PURPOSE AND GROWTH IN MY EYES

We are already in the second month of this year!

I have been reading on some Japanese philosophies and concepts this year.Chanced about a good read - Kaizen by Sarah Harvey and wanted to look into it away from a personal view and not as a performance tool in management view.
This in turn led to another concept of Wabi Sabi - imperfectly perfect.Often we are in a race to chase perfection in leadership, work and life.In the process we forget the beauty in imperfect unfinished tasks.Perfect example would be to draw inspiration from Nature- which is not always perfect, still beautiful. There have been many instances where an imperfect dishes have given ideas to new dishes in my kitchen. This should be a concept to be introduced in young minds and young generations.Imperfection is not seen as a flaw but as a feature of human being.Let go of what we think life should be like and embracing what it is actually.
This led to another concept of Kintsugi- the Japanese art of mending a broken pottery with gold/silver/platinum, thus highlighting the crack and not hiding them.A reflection of Wabi Sabi.Instead of being frustrated, you are creating a new object of value.
Kaizen, Kinstsugi, Wabi Sabi, Kakeibo, Ikigai, Shinrin Yoku, Marie Kondos decluttering methods - all these are beautiful Japanese philosophies given to the world.
