Hospitality industry

Now that's a really long time since I blogged.its not that I forgot about one of my personal interest.just the same old excuse..BUSY LIFE....so many changes have happened to my life since my last blog...change of cities, change of jobs and much on the personal front.anyways I don't think you would be so interested in my personal affairs...so let me get straight into what made be busy last few years...My career in the hospitality industry.
An industry which doesn't sleep day in and day out you see everyone busy running around and performing their job the best they can...the outcome of all this is a happy guest.Yes, it does give a lot of satisfaction to make others happy. All our jobs in one way or another makes others life easier. We are all dependent on each other.Similarly, in hospitality industry,
all the departments are dependent on each other.Housekeeping,F & B Service,F&B Production,Front Office,Finance,Human Resources,Marketing,Systems,Laundry,Hygiene,F&B Controls,Purchase and much more from hotel to hotel. Each department is important to maintain customer satisfaction and plays as a backbone. An industry which runs on manpower and it is one of the toughest resource to control and satisfy. Thus the role of HR in this industry is important and so I found my job challenging here always.Hotels around the world strive hard to maintain their standards as the competition is really hard in the hospitality industry with each hotel making sure the guests have the best comfort possible. This industry is not just about satisfying basic human need of food and shelter. It has much more to meet the demand of the customers whose needs differ from person to person. Also, human beings are the toughest to be satisfied.

Its sometimes sad that people dont understand the challenging role faced by the employees of hospitality industry.Sometimes, the people who come in direct contact with the customers like a steward are not treated well by an angry customer. The employees of this industry are taught from day 1:Customer is King!

But above all this, the kind of experience and the kind of learning i got from this industry is something I would treasure always as I am sure I would not have got it anywhere else. Also here everyday is challenging and is never monotonous as we have some events everyday.Coming to HR, the core concept of employee satisfaction is of utmost importance and the entire HR work towards it.I am lucky that I had experience  in two of the major hospitality chains of India The Leela and The Marriott.Had the pleasure to work with two great personalities at both the places..Will cherish everyday the experience as I remember  them everyday.Long live the colourful and enthusiastic hispitality industry.
